Electric Ladyland – SOLD

40 x 40 cm, oil on canvas.

Description

Art in oils.

This is an oil painting of the infamous Jimi Hendrix photograph that accompanies the “banned” final 1968 album Electric Ladyland. “Jimi refused to release the album with this photo but Reprise records insisted anyway. (He preferred this image.) 19 women, that you are viewing. 19 women, wih no clothes on. They are figures, trapped in rock history.

But I wanted to take them out of the context, paint a new Dejeuner Sur L’Herbe  as if they are staring back and make this more triumphant, more beautiful in a way. Flesh tones merging into flesh tones, and in oils, which is more responsive as a medium (man) and all that. There will be limited editions
